DISC Profiling - What Is it?

DISC is a powerful human behaviour tool that has become an increasingly popular resource in recruitment and other Human Resource Management applications.

DISC behavioural profiling goes back to Hippocrates and four behavioural styles he identified; Choleric, Sanguine, Phlegmatic and Melancholic.

In 1928, William Marston as part of his studies into human behaviour, developed much of the behavioural theory that makes up DISC today recognised as: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance.

DISC has evolved and is simply a powerful behavioural profiling tool that identifies not only the characteristics of oneself, but also those of others with whom you interact. This tool can help to provide a better understanding of yourself, how to communicate better and be more effective in what you do.

Intrigued by human behaviour and using DISC for many years as a recruitment resource and training tool, Lindy Packer, Business Development Manager of Chris Packer & Associates and a facilitator with over 30 years experience became accredited to deliver DISC in May 2019. This service is now offered by Chris Packer & Associates.

Chris Packer & Associates have utilised DISC in recruitment and job profiling for many years to maximise recruitment outcomes. DISC is also used to develop individual and team awareness, understand and progress the culture and strategic direction of the business and strengthen our connection with people.

Lindy completed her first DISC profile in 1993 with Robert J Re & Associates as a prelude to facilitating training for the Australian Industry Group. This introduction subsequently propelled Lindy’s interest to explore DISC further and how it can be used in recruitment, performance management, team building and organisational development.
